Seasonal Communities

As you know, the transfer fee was not included in the Affordable Homes Act (AHA). We are disappointed, maybe even as disappointed as our state senator Julian Cyr, who has tirelessly worked for its passage, but we are not done. We will come back next session and vigorously push forward until MV has both a Housing Bank and a funding stream equal to the size of our housing crisis.

In the meantime, relief (albeit smaller scale) is in the pipeline.  If the proposed Senate version of the AHA’s Seasonable Communities designation is ultimately passed, that will help us with new tools and funding. (You can read the particulars of the Senate proposal here.)

Before turning our attention to next session’s transfer fee offensive, our Steering Committee members want to assure that the Senate’s Seasonal Communities provisions get passed. You can help us by filling out the form below and sending before end of day tomorrow (Tuesday July 16th).

Seasonal Communities is a detour, but a worthwhile one. Come July 31st (the end of this legislative session), it’s back to regularly-scheduled programming. Stick with us - the bitter taste of this session’s transfer fee setback will make our eventual success all the sweeter.
