MARTHA GOES TO BEACON HILL

MV’s Housing Bank bill has arrived at the State House!

To put a face to this bill, we’re organizing a day of action called “Martha Goes to Beacon Hill”.

On this day, Thursday, March 23rd, we’ll

  • Take the 7am boat from VH to WH

  • Charter private buses to Beacon Hill

  • Meet with key legislators,

  • Hold a rally on the capitol steps

  • Then bus back to make the 3:45pm ferry in WH (arriving in VH around 4:15pm)

All are welcome! We’ll provide everyone who signs up/shows up with:

  • FREE round-trip ferry service

  • FREE round-trip bus service

  • FREE food

  • A FREE long sleeve t-shirt to wear

Diverse representation and big numbers are critical to our success, but they are not a given. This event falls on a Thursday, during legislative working hours – which also happen to be the working hours of those most affected by the housing crisis/whose attendance would mean the most. To reduce this friction:

  • We’re calling upon those businesses and institutions who have supported us in the past to encourage/ enable their employees’ attendance. This can take many different forms: being flexible about their work schedule, compensating them for time spent, etc. (Check out our social media feed to see whose already committed!)

  • We’re encouraging parents to bring their kids or pool their resources with group babysitting/after-school care.

  • We also welcome further suggestions for reducing friction via noah@ccmvhb.org. Our job is to support you! What will it take to get you and 2-3 friends there?
